Flash flooding closes roads around Culloden
Heavy rainfall has caused flooding around Balloch and Culloden and police have closed the following roads:
Murray Road and Murray Terrace, Smithton (unclassified)
Barn Church Road, Culloden (between Cherry Park Junction and the A96 Junction, also unclassified)
A number of other routes in the Culloden, Balloch, Smithton and Nairnside area are affected by significant surface water, in particular.
The A96 at the Balloch Junction which is badly flooded, and
The B9039 Ardersier road which has significant flooding at the railway bridge near to Castle Stuart.
Motorists are advised to avoid these areas and to take alternative routes.
A met office weather warning remains in place, advising of further rain, heavy at times in the Moray Firth Basin and Highland Area.
