PICTURES: Tartan Heart Festival, Belladrum

The weather turned nice for the Tartan Heart Festival at Belladrum and thousands enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in dry conditions.

And local police have said they are generally pleased with the behaviour of the majority of revellers at this year’s event.

Around 13,000 people attended the ‘family-friendly’ festival between Thursday and Sunday and, as in previous years, there were no incidents of serious disorder.

Saturday marked the end of the festival with some revellers making the trip home and the vast majority camping on site for a third night.

The first two nights passed without major incident, with a small number of people being arrested for offences such as breach of the peace, petty assault and drink driving.

Two members of the public were assaulted, as was a police officer (who required to receive hospital treatment for a minor injury) following a disturbance on site at around 4am this morning (Sunday).

A 24-year-old man was arrested and expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court in due course.

Acting Chief Inspector Alistair Clark, said: “We are pleased with the general behaviour of festival-goers, despite a small number of arrests over the weekend.

“Most people seemed to enjoy their weekend and the atmosphere appeared to be very friendly. Our officers interacted positively with the crowds and it would appear that everyone enjoyed a safe, enjoyable weekend.”
