Herald Scotland – Canadian wood panel manufacturer Norbord has complained that subsidised power companies are pushing up raw material prices as it announced the final stage of a £25 million investment in its operations in Cowie, Stirlingshire. Norbord hopes to boost capacity by 10% and cut manufacturing costs by replacing key components at the plant. Karl Morris, managing director of Norbord Europe, said: “These planned cost reductions are important as we strive to partially offset rising wood costs, which are under pressure due to strong competition from the energy sector.”
