Ancient boat set for Spey voyage

Read full article at source: Northern Scot

Northern Scot – A MODE of river transport last seen in Moray during the 18th century, is set to be revived by a boatmaker planning to paddle the length of the River Spey. Peter Faulkner is an internationally- known maker of a small hide-covered craft called a coracle, which was once used to carry timber up to Spey Bay to be sold to southern markets. And that journey is set to be recreated by Mr Faulkner next month, when he steers one of his own dish-shaped vessels along 80 miles of the river.
