A Moray butcher is celebrating the quality of his produce for a second time this month after scooping four awards at his industry’s ‘Oscars’.

Scottish traditional online butcher, Macbeth’s in Forres, has won four Great Taste Awards in the prestigious event judged this week.

This follows their recognition earlier in the month by the Times as one of the top ten butchers ln the UK (Link: Forres butcher listed among UK’s finest).

ln the fresh beef category and the sausage category, Macbeth’s rib eye steak and pork sausage were awarded two gold stars respectively. Two gold stars are awarded for  ‘products setting new standards of excellence’.

In the bacon category the butchers’ newest product, a dry cure bacon won one gold star as did their rump steak.

Jock Gibson, manager of Macbeth’s said: “Everyone at Macbeth’s was thrilled when we heard about this, especially wlth the Two Gold Stars for the rib eye and our pork sausage. We have worked extremely hard at improving the quality of our products and this is proof that our hard work is paying off. It also bullds really nicely on the awards that we won last year.”

Macbeth’s slogan “It’s all about great taste,” is being justified over and over.

Six thousand products were blind-tasted in the awards which are judged by 300 fine food retailers, chefs, restaurant critics, food writers and industry experts. The awards which have been running for 17 years are considered the definitive independent benchmark for speciality food.

Macbeth’s Butchers is a small family-run business rearing their own grass·fed Scottish native breeds with a reputation for quality. They are one of the few butchers who mature their beef on the bone for a minimum of 21 days. As well as running a retail shop in Forres and supplying restaurants UK wide, Macbeths offer a mail order service delivering fresh meat to consumers across the UK.

Along with their own beef, they source the highest quality lamb, pork, venison and game from local suppliers such as Geddes Free Range and Loch Gorm Lamb.
