A dog is for every day

Dogs are for life is an oft-heard phrase that reminds people not to be selfish when it comes to pets.

Yesterday, we heard disturbing news from the SSPCA that four dogs in the Highlands were essentially boiled alive after being left caged in cars in the sweltering heat.

A slow and torturous death for what were probably much-loved pets.

Dogs are indeed for life, but they are also for every day, and every minute of every day. They’re not called man’s best friend for nothing.

They are constant companions and if owners cannot fit a constant companion into their lifestyle, they shouldn’t have a dog.
